A Life of Ease and Flow
by Life Coach Marcie Hunt
I know now that there is nothing that I could truly
desire that is not at this very moment standing at the
door of my consciousness, ready to appear in my life
and affairs.
John Randolph Price
Does your life seem to flow with ease from moment to
moment? Do you find joy and meaningful satisfaction
from your daily activities? Do you work through
inspiration? Do you move throughout your day with
enthusiasm?
Or do you act through forced motivation? Do you
struggle? Do you often feel stuck or frustrated? Are
results small in comparison to the energy you exert?
If your answers fit the first paragraph, you are most
likely living a life with ease and flow. If your responses
are mixed, or if you identify with struggle, forced
actions and little results, than it may be time to re-
evaluate your activities. It is time to find fresh ways to
accomplish what you desire with greater ease and joy!
A simple way to achieve ease and flow is to begin your
day with a quick meditation. After several deep
breaths, close your eyes while in a quiet spot. Ask your
higher self what will bring you the most joy today?
What can you work on or accomplish that makes you
feel passionate, and that uses your talents for your
highest purpose? Notice if you receive spontaneous
thoughts or suggestions, remembering that they will
always be loving and creative messages in tone.
You can also affirm that "Today I speak and act from
my heart with joy and with love. I listen to others, and
others benefit from my words and actions as
well." "Today I am centered and peaceful as my day
flows with divine order. I work with ease, accomplishing
everything I desire in the time necessary."
You may wish to write down the main goals and plans
you are involved with presently. Now close your eyes,
and take a few deep breaths until you feel centered
and calm. Ask yourself how each specific action makes
you feel. Notice each time you ask yourself this
question, if you feel light and uplifted or if you feel tight
and restricted. You may notice, for example, that your
solar plexus feels tight, or that your shoulders or neck
feel constricted. Your mood may change and you sense
that you are resisting taking action.
All of us have, at some time or another, accomplished
other activities and neglected the priority we were
resisting. We procrastinated and let it go until another
day.
If an activity you are resisting is a priority, close your
eyes once again and ask your higher self, "How can I
achieve my goal in a way that is fun, nurturing and
productive?" Take several moments to listen, and see if
you receive an idea, intuition, or inspiration about the
subject. If not, notice if sometime during your day you
receive an idea that provides a solution for you. Or
perhaps someone will inspire you with a new
perspective or alternative solution.
As you connect with your intuition or higher wisdom for
creative input, you will find everything becoming much
simpler and less forced. You may ask for insights before
you go to sleep at night. When Singer invented the
sewing machine, he was trying to figure out how the
thread would pass through the machine to make
stitches. His logical mind was stumped after many long
hours of contemplating and trying out different
possibilities.
One night he dreamed there was a tribe of warriors
with spears, and the tips of their arrows had a hole in
the center. He suddenly woke up realizing that the
thread would go through a thin hole at the tip of the
needle on his sewing machine, connecting with the
fabric and creating quick even stitches! It is amazing
how the intuitive mind, when we practice using it every
day, can help us to achieve goals with greater
creativity and in half the time.
When big projects are in progress, I always find it
easier to break them down into small steps. As I
accomplish each step, I congratulate myself.
Many times we forget to appreciate our own efforts.
We deserve to take a few moments and to
acknowledge work well done. If we are raising a family,
we can mentally stop and appreciate ourselves for
cooking a good meal, helping the children with their
school work, or driving them to their own activities.
If we don't feel uplifted after we acknowledge
ourselves, we may need to delegate some activities, or
to hire someone part time. It's important to have fun,
to be creative, and to have a heartfelt sense that we
are spending our time using our unique gifts and skills.
I have known numerous clients who have been brought
up believing that life is a struggle, and that hard work
and long hours are the only way to success. Money and
security always took precedence over personal
preferences.
Yet what is more important than living life with joy, love
and inspiration? Isn't it better to use our natural talents
allowing us to create financial prosperity, rather than
following an unfulfilling career because we are afraid to
take a leap of faith?
Jenna was a single mother with a small child. She
struggled in her job, working long hours, with little pay
or personal satisfaction. She realized that what she had
always wanted was to design fun and colorful clothing
for women. This appealed to her artistic flair as well as
her goal of helping women to feel more beautiful. Jenna
began to visualize her dream. She created a treasure
map; pasting pictures of her designs on a cardboard
backing she kept by her bedside. Inscribed on her map
were the words "The Universe supports my dream as I
become a successful designer."
Three months later a friend asked Jenna if she would
like to design clothes for her new clothing store, and
soon the two became business partners. The boutique
was well promoted and Jenna's designs became known
first locally, then nationally.
Needless to say, Jenna quit her former job, and now
easily supports herself and her child. They have moved
into a beautiful residence with more space in a quiet
location and with better schools for Jenna's daughter
Megan. Jenna used vision and accessed her faith, both
in her own talents and in the support of Universal
Spirit. Only when she took the "leap" did her dreams
become reality. She left behind struggle, fear and
unhappiness- choosing instead to embrace ease, faith,
and joy.
Another essential element to living life with ease is to
let go of our attachment to outcomes. This doesn't
mean being uncaring or apathetic. It simply means that
while we are passionate and inspired in our daily
actions, we leave the results to the Universal Presence.
Like Jenna, we never know how our dreams will be
realized. By having faith and keeping our eyes and ears
open, we only need to be aware of what the Universal
Intelligence offers us and to act upon the opportunities
provided. How wonderful to know that we are so loved
and supported! Letting go of attachment automatically
brings the ease we so desire into our life.
Whatever you love in life, whether it is consulting,
being an entrepreneur, an engineer, a sales person, an
artist, or a parent- remember to bring ease and grace
into each day. You deserve it! You owe it to yourself
and to those around you. You are everything you need
to be at this moment, and it is your choice to
embrace a life of beauty.
Let the only clouds that cover your horizon be those
that form a magnificent sunset.
Let your life flow with ease and your light shine
radiantly- just as the river flows along its course, the
water sparkles as it reflects the sun's rays.
Monthly Affirmation:
"I let go of struggle. I let go of resistance. I embrace
activities and people which uplift and inspire me."
Monthly technique
Ask yourself each day, at least twice a day, "Am I
centering on ease and flow?"
